Fourth of July Fireworks Shows & Events in the Twin Cities
We all know that summer is full of family fun opportunities (hey, just check out our list of waterpark getaways!). And the Fourth of July is not only another great occasion for enjoying the outdoors together as a family, it’s also an opportunity to witness some amazing fireworks displays in and around the Twin Cities.
So whether you’re looking for a bigger scene with lots of activities during the day or want to get in just for the “main event,” there’s something for everyone this year. Here are some of the best events and Fourth of July fireworks shows in the Twin Cities area:
Red, White & Boom
Mississippi Riverfront, 212 2nd Ave. S.E., Minneapolis, MN 55414
One of the larger Fourth of July celebrations in the Twin Cities, this two-day celebration includes 5K and half-marathon runs, live music, plenty of family fun activities (don’t miss the screening of “Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” Friday evening), and an impressive fireworks show Saturday night at Water Tower Park to wrap up the festivities. Eagan’s July 4th Funfest
Central Park, 1501 Central Parkway, Eagan, MN
For those who love carnivals, Eagan’s July 4th Funfest is the place to be! And even if you don’t, both kids and adults of all ages can enjoy this popular community event, from the Children’s Bike Parade to the Texas Hold’em Tournament. Feeling generous? Support this local non-profit event by attending the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Car Show or participating in the annual blood drive (both on Saturday). Fireworks begin at 10:00 p.m.
Round Lake Park, 16691 Valley View Road, Eden Prairie, Minnesota 55346
Beat the heat during the day at this lakeside community event. Cool off in the splash pad, take a dip in Round Lake, experience the lake by canoe or paddleboard, or take the little ones for a kids beach party complete with fun in the sun activities. Fireworks begin at 10:00 p.m. inside the park.
4801 W 50th St, Edina, MN 55424
For the complete Fourth of July experience, celebrate in style at one of Edina’s largest community events! Beginning behind Edina City Hall (Eden Avenue and Willson Road), the hour-long parade will feature marching bands, clowns, floats, veterans, dogs, and more. Over 20,000 people are expected, so be sure to check out the parade map for public and spectator parking spots. And, of course, no Fourth of July celebration would be complete without fireworks! The show will begin at 10:00 p.m. in Rosland Park while the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band performs.
5901 W 84th St, Bloomington, MN 55438
This year’s celebration at Normandale Lake Park is one you won’t want to miss. The Summer Fete event includes a carnival with specialty attractions and two entertainment stages with live music and family-friendly performances. Fireworks will begin around dusk (just after 10:00 p.m.), featuring some of the best pyrotechnics in the state!
Lake Minnetonka, Lake St, Excelsior, MN 55331
Take a trip out to Excelsior and enjoy a Fourth of July event that “kicks off with a firecracker and ends with a bang!” Beginning early in the morning at Commons Park with the annual Firecracker Runs (1 mile, 5K and 10K), other morning events include the Sand Sculpture Contest, Water Street Kids’ Parade and Popsicle Social (yum!). Be sure to check out the evening performance by Wolverines Big Band, and a spectacular fireworks display beginning at 10:00 p.m.
From all of us at Pronto, we wish you a safe, happy and fun-filled Fourth of July!
